Today, one small step was taken for irate consumers in CVS waiting rooms all over the country, as Old Guys Attacked in the Central Square CVS of Cambridge Massachusetts.
I'd called in earlier today for a pretty mundane prescription refill and was told that my prescription would be ready at 4 pm. Upon my arrival at 5:10 pm, I was told "it'll be coming right up, please have a seat."
Ridiculous, I say! Ridiculous! I was already running an hour late, and what was I met with? Incompetence of the highest degree!
It's been the same drill every month ever since the CVS picked up my prescription - they'd either bung up my prescription, or were just simply not prepared.
Was I going to take it in the behind like every other poor soul in the waiting room? No Siree! Not this month.
Thusly I began to slowly rile up the old fogeys in the room, until to my surprise and delight, I'd acquired a legion, an army, of angry old farts. "'Scuse me, do you happen to know the time?" "They said it'd be ready at 4, so where the heck is my prescription?" "Jesus, I wonder if they know how bad their customer service is." "Look at how uninformed these people are, they can't even handle your insurance, and their only defense is that they keep telling you the CVS stores are connected 'by the internet.'"
Today, the CVS lost a great battle, by giving me the benefit of a half-hour wait in their stupid waiting area. I'd amassed support by the bundle, and by the time I picked up my prescription, I had to barely tear the idiot at the counter a new one before the other old farts started in on them.
"Hey! Have ya got any patience pills back there?"
Suffice to say, I beat a hasty retreat. I wonder if there'll be a pile of rubble tomorrow morning, and the sound of canes and depends, their ghostly whistles through the chilly Massachusetts air.
