More Reasons to Love...

I was just looking back at some of the things that I've done over the past couple of months, and I began thinking fondly about my long, extended, spontaneous vacation last November. I spent a lot of time "cementing certain memories" in my brain, as it were. It made me realize that there was not one specific thing that made the trip extraordinary - rather, it seemed to be a sum of small but meaningful gestures, conversations, looks, and shared smiles that culminated into one great weekend that I will remember for the rest of my life. It's the little things that matter, really. Witness:

On the way to the San Francisco Airport, my brother, mother, and I were driving over the Bay Bridge covered in a glorious morning fog when my brother proposed a game of "Guess the Fruit."

Brother: "Hey! Let's play a game!"
Me: "Oh boy..."
Brother: "Let's play guess the fruit. Okay, I'm thinking of a fruit, you need to guess."
Me: "... is it Richard Simmons?"
Brother: "No."
Me: "Is it Lance Bass?"
Brother: "Uggh... be serious!"
Me: "Is it a kiwi?"
Brother: "No."
Me: "Argh, I give up."
Brother: "Mom, it's your turn to guess!"
Mom: "Huh, what am I guessing again?"
Brother: "We're playing guess the fruit."
Me: "And so far we've determined it's NOT Lance Bass, Richard Simmons, or a kiwi."
Mom: "Uh..."
Me: "Is it Liberace?"
Mom: "Liberace was gay?"
Me: "Yeah."
Brother: "MUMMY! GUESS THE FRUIT!"
Mom: "Is it a lemon?"
Brother: "YES! YAAAAAY!"

This is my family folks. And for the record, we were in a Honda Accord, and not a yellow short bus. I love them all.

Further bulletins as events warrant.
